This piece draws inspiration from the hooded sweatshirt, which evolved from American work and athletic wear. It gained popularity as a practical garment that could cover the head while working in cold conditions or waiting between competitions, and after World War II, it became a staple of a wide range of youth cultures, including college, skateboarding, and hip-hop.
The dry, faded appearance resulting from sun exposure, repeated washing, and friction is a defining characteristic of this item.
